FAQs

1. How much insulation does a hot tub need?

In 1983 Beachcomber Hot Tubs pioneered the industry by changing the way hot tubs were made. We realized that completely filling in all four walls of the cavity below the hot tub shell with sprayed foam insulation significantly improved energy efficiency – and reduced operating costs. In 2008 independent testing laboratories confirmed it. Ever since, we’ve constructed our hot tubs in this manner.

2. Is it true that an Ozonator System will not actually clean and disinfect hot tub water?

An ozonator does not disinfect, treat, or clean hot tub water at all. It is an oxidizer only and generates a strong gas that released directly into your hot tub water for an oxidization process. Releasing a harmful gas like this directly into your hot tub is not safe. Clean, treated water is a very important to a safe and healthy hot tub experience. Beachcomber Hot Tubs offers a simplified, less expensive water maintenance method with our ClearTech UV Watercare system. Our system disables and destroys bacteria, without producing a harmful by-product or residue.

Beachcomber Hot Tubs & Patio is committed to educating our customers on proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures with each installation. We are the only manufacturer that has its own full line of Beachcomber Water Care Products. It is a simple system designed for maximum safety and ease of use.

3. I’ve heard that Salt Water Systems are not the best choice for a hot tub. Is it true that the salt can damage the hot tub?

Salt quickly deteriorates hot tub equipment, fixtures and often surrounding environments like decks and railings. Special mechanical units that generate the sanitizer for a Salt Water System have no way to regulate their output into hot tub water; and they will require cleaning and replacement because of the scale and corrosion that salt naturally brings. Beachcomber brand Water Care Products gives you non-corrosive options, including eco-friendly enzymes. Beachcomber Hot Tubs offers a simplified, less expensive water maintenance method with our ClearTech UV Watercare system. Our system disables and destroys bacteria, without producing a harmful by-product or residue.

4. Does having more motors and higher horsepower in a hot tub mean it is better and worth more money?

No, in fact it is the opposite. Our engineers regularly look for ways to REDUCE the number of motors and horsepower required. The motors and pumps you have in a hot tub result in higher energy bills and more service. Beachcomber Hot Tubs uses reverse engineering to direct available horsepower effectively, so that each jetting location delivers just the right power for the best jetting massage. When you lower horsepower or remove motors you use less energy – and thus pay less to service and operate your hot tub.
